2019 Phoenix Girls Basketball Camp

JUNE 17TH - 20TH
  Girls → Grades 2nd - 8th
(2019-20 academic year)
All grades: Noon - 4PM
Cost: $150 for one camper, $250 if two campers from same family

Basic shooting form to include lay-up, jump shot, free throw and 3-point technique

Body balance, change of direction, pivoting footwork and positioning technique for rebounding

  • The fundamentals of passing, catching and getting open to receive the ball
  • Basic post moves and receiving the ball in the post
  • Perimeter, stationary and dribble scoring moves
  • Dribbling and ball handling skills.
  • Fundamentals of 1-on-1, 3-on-3 and 5-on-5 offense
  • Individual and team defensive concepts
  • All campers receive a Cumberland basketball camp t-shirt.
  • Be ready to learn and improve your skill and knowledge of the game and have fun!

Cumberland University women’s basketball head coach Scott Blum
Coach Blum finished his first year as head coach at Cumberland University in 2018-19. Coach Blum was named an Indiana All-Star in high school and played two years at Valparaiso University before transferring to Grace College, where he earned First Team All-America honors twice.

He played professionally in Portugal before embarking on his coaching career, which began at Indiana Wesleyan, where he guided the Wildcats men’s basketball team to their first-ever NCCAA national championship. He served seven years as a men’s head coach and took over as head coach of the women’s program at Grace College in 2004-05, spending 14 seasons at his alma mater.

He is the winningest coach in Grace College history and recruited five of the Top 10 leading scorers in program annals. The Lancers also earned their first-ever national ranking during his tenure.
